Hi! My name is Laura. I am vegan, and have been for 9 years and was vegetarian for 6 years before I took the plunge. I have been in love with cooking since I was a child. I have a lot of talented women to thank for spending time with me in the kitchen. Plus thanks to my brother Nick, for opening a restaurant and letting me work like a dog in it. I have spent the last 10+ years working in the food industry. From dish to hostess, I have done just about everything. My brother Justin inspires me to cook outside the box, mixing weird flavors and ingredients. My mom is my number one recipe-tester, my dad is my compost supplier and my taste-tester.
I have a Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University in Nutrition Science and a Master’s degree in Public Health at The Ohio State University.
This blog serves as a place for me to express my love of cooking and everything that it intersects with. I strive to make the vegan lifestyle an approachable and conscious option for people of any cooking experience, financial status, or dietary preference. Sometimes you’ll find an op-ed style article or round-up of relevant food-related news, I love writing these pieces because they inspire me to think outside of my personal food experiences. I live with my fiancé, Josh, our dog Rigby, and our cat Stella. We strive for simplicity, choosing experiences over materials, and spending a lot of time with music and the great outdoors.
